Denton Indie - Enjoying open containers on the courthouse lawn...
legally.
Summer is in full effect and so are your favorite kick-ass shows. Over at Hailey’s, they have a ton of bands that you’ve never heard of but will never forget. The pride of Providence, RI, Deer Tick makes a stopover with Dawes and Old Snack opening… If underground Hip Hop floats your boat, be sure to get the scoop on Cage this month… One of Denton’s favorites, Zanzibar Snails has a show scheduled with Fight Bite and Florene

Let’s hear it for pets! Rubber Gloves is hosting Cats and Dogs, a two-night event, July 31, Aug. 1 benefiting The Denton Humane Society. Some of Denton’s finest are lined up for your listening and drinking pleasure. Record Hop, Shiny Around The Edges, Brent Best and Sarah Jaffee take the stage in non-profit support…

If you have not had the chance to see locals, Teenage Cool Kids, you can catch their album release party this month with Angry Businessmen, Fungi Girls and Hot Times. Word on the street indicates that TCK’s new album, Queer Salutatoins, synchs-up with an episode of My So Called Life. Yes, this is also a reunion for Angry Businessmen.

Dentonites can save a trip to Dallas and see The Paper Chase at Dan’s Silverleaf. If you’ve not heard their new material, this show is a good time to do so…. For those in the market for a good tribute band or two, Petty Theft (Tom Petty) and Bricks In The Wall (Pink Floyd) are worth seeing… Later this summer, Wayne “The Train” Hancock makes a scheduled stop at Dan’s. Be sure to check him out.

Stop by The Boiler Room and lend your ear to New Vintage. They’re sharing the stage with The Blue Hit and Danny Malone.
