Denton Indie – Using the word “Kafka-esque” since 2006
Spring has almost sprung – and feral cats and people will be in heat. So get them, the cats, fixed.

But feral bipeds will soon head out to mingle, and there’s no better place than Hailey’s on Thursday’s — 80’s night. If you prefer to walk on the wild side of local music, you’re covered. Oso Closo has a show with New Vintage. Check your calendars and wash your favorite thrift-shop-pearl-snapping-shirt… Everyone’s favorite indie act, The Demigs, plans on showing up with The Alice Rose and the Slider Pines — sure to be a kick-ass show… Mathew and the Arrogant Sea and Kate Maki open for Great Lake Swimmers (from Canada). Grab a Molson and mounty up… For a really good time, look no further than Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti and Vivian Girls, coming to Denton by way of Los Angeles. Show them some down home hospitality.

Over at Rubber Gloves, check out the Sun Club spinning your favorite hits on Thursdays. Word on the street is that DJ Sid Spinoza is the best of all possible worlds for the dance floor… Fans of Off With Their Heads, take note. They make their way from Minnesota, with Last of the Interceptors, Swedish Teens and Stymie opening… If it has been a while since you’ve seen Trebuchet, they have a new album out. You can hear some new tunes when they open for The Life and Times… Denton’s favorite local record label, Gutterth, hosts another great show with Record Hop, R2B2, The Timeline Post and Drink to Victory.

Fans of Baptist Generals — get ready to help them band celebrate 10 years. Get there early and kick back with a couple of cold ones at Dan’s Silverleaf. This is sure to be a great show... If you are searching for a caffeinated good time, head to Jupiter House on the town’s square. They have great singers and songwriters during the weekend. Art Six also has some great talent this month. New Science Projects is slated to perform, and the NT Creative Writing Series is going strong.
